Study: This company got 30% less chargebacks (1 simple change)

People would sometimes see a charge from “37signals, LLC” on their credit card, but they didn’t know what it was or couldn’t remember.
So, they called their credit card company to get the charge taken off their card.

So, 37signals lost money and hurt the image of their bank.

They were able to cut chargebacks by 30% thanks to a simple trick.

How?

According to the rules, the section on a customer’s billing account for your company name must be 3, 7, or 12 characters long, and the section for describing the product must be 4, 8, or 13 characters long.

So, they changed “37signals, LLC” to “37signals-charge.com 800.xxx.xxxx IL” on the customer’s bill.

When you go to 37signals-charge.com, you will be taken to a page that explains the charge, the products, and what to do if you don’t know what the products are. There is also a link to their payment support form if you need more help.

Result: 30% less chargebacks
