A case study on how a data-driven analysis of 2M keywords and a small trick turned into the #2 position on Google

A data-driven examination of 2 million keywords found that using exact match keywords in a domain name was the most predictive of high Google PageRank. A willing Tim Soulo opted to try it out.

With an eye on search engine optimisation, he secured the domain name “contentupgradespro.com” for his “Content Upgrades Pro” WordPress plugin.

Result:

Now, he ranks second on Google (out of a possible 100 million results) next to a highly linked-to piece by Brian Dean titled “How to Boost Conversions by 785% in One Day (The Content Upgrade)”.
