Wistia analyzed 450K CTAs from 300K videos. This is what they found… [95% of people are placing CTAs wrong]

Over 3.6 million adjustments were made to Wistia-hosted videos, and 481,514 CTAs were analysed from 324,015 films. Some of my favourite insights are included below.

First, 95% of calls to action are placed at the end of the film.

The highest click-through rate is found in the middle of the video. 16.95%

The post-roll: 10.98%

The pre-roll: 3.15%

2.Image vs Text CTAs:

+ Image: 13.08%

+ Text: 10.65%

3.Videos with CTA that included the word:

+ “Free” converted 12.22%

+ “You”: 9.6%

+ “Signup”: 19.5%

4.The standard CTA image size for Wistia films is 960×540.

+ 640×360: 13.7%

+ 960×540 (full sized): 12.9%

+ 480×270: 3%
